Five Haiku in Winter

1.
A bird is in my
freezer (dead, of course) until
I want to draw it.

2.
A train sounds the night.
The typist’s keys clatter;
her carriage returns.

3.
Bush trimmed to globe, laced
in lights gold blue green. Red leaves
Blown off, forget them.

4.
Gutted spruce thicket–
through bowels’ blue understorey
these bright gems trickling.

5.
Down the dead bower
And across the broken stones
Comes a chickadee.
